Lord I often wonder
Dec 18th, 2007 by indigo-daisy
How is it Lord that my soul
is so important to your heaven?
How is it you’ve forgiven
more then the seventy times seven?
How is that a tiny star
can be greater than the earth?
How is it you’ve so dumbfounded man
with the miracle of birth?
How is it Lord
there’s so many people in this world?
With different colors, different features
hair that’s straight and hair that’s curled
How is it that these people
speak so many different tongues?
With words that can be made so beautiful
especially when they’re sung
How is it Lord, that my brother
who lives across the sea
Can live a life that would seem
so difficult to me?
And yet if I were born with him
I’d follow in his ways
and all my days would be very much
like his ordinary day
How is it Lord that some moments
are so beautiful you can’t let go?
These moments come like dreams
I’ve never dreamed could ere be so
And how is it Lord some moments
can so be filled with pain?
Some as though I’d never wish
to see another day again
Lord I often wonder
what this life is all about
And there are even times
when I feel myself to doubt
But there is one thing in this world
that of which I’m sure
Even in the moments
which are so hard to endure
That there is nothing in this world
you don’t already know
And everything in earth and heaven
is what you my Lord bestowed
And if thou can make a human soul
from just two tiny cells
What better place for me my Lord
then in your beloved arms to dwell

I wrote this many years ago at the beginning of my spiritual quest. It was a point where I was beginning to understand that a spiritual journey was one that did not require any kind of religion so to speak, just an open heart and a willingness to be at peace.

Hi Marsh,
Sorry for the late reply, your comment got trapped in my spam box. This is my main blog, I don’t use the one on blogspot except to point to this one. Yes, my husband is from Baghdad and graduated from Baghdad University some time ago. Most of his family is still in Baghdad, and some have moved on to Syria. He is a good man, and is still the love of my life after 28 years of marriage. I have bookmarked your blog and will keep checking in to see you as well.
