The Third Jesus

The Third Jesus is the newest book written by renowned inspirational author, speaker and physician Deepak Chopra. In this book, Deepak Chopra presents a refreshing new look into the life and words of Jesus without any of the dogma you would normally find in most organized religions. He also shows us the different ways that Jesus has been perceived throughout history.
The First Jesus he explains, is the historical Jesus, the one that walked upon this earth many years ago. We would like to be like this Jesus, but it seems almost impossible to do so because we would have to be perfect. The second Jesus he said, first came to us about a century after his death. This Jesus was more or less created by the Church to fit their own agenda. While Jesus’ teachings said turn the other cheek, they would still live by an eye for an eye. The true meaning of Christ’s words seemed to have been drowned out.
Now the Third Jesus, the one Deepak writes about, is an entirely new concept to the Christian world. The Jesus he so eloquently brings before us, is a universal Jesus who goes beyond Christianity and opens the path to enlightenment, one who teaches his followers spiritual growth and God-consciousness.
Personally, I had become quite frustrated with the teachings in todays churches as with out even realizing it, they have become tolerant of so many kinds of hate. The Christ that I had grown to love as a little child seems to have virtually disappeared from todays teachings. Where is the Christ that sat with the sinners, that forgave the prostitute, or helped the Samaritan woman? The Christ that teaches love one another, blessed are the peacemakers and turn the other cheek.
Deepak shows us how we can assimilate the true message of Jesus to transform our life and bring us the kingdom of heaven which Jesus speaks about, without leaving earth. He teaches us that when we die, we don’t turn into spirit because we already are spirit.
For any open minded Christian that has become frustrated like I had, this is a wonderful way to bring the true message of Jesus back in your life.
