We saw him fly into a tree while we were walking at the wetlands park, so I zoomed in to snap a few shots, but he was hard to see. Then to my delight he moved and purched himself on top of this branch so I could get a clear shot. At first I thought an eagle, but he doesn’t have feathers all the way to his toes. I think he is a hawk of some sort, not sure what.
What a blessing to get a “fluke shot” (or at least that is what I call them) that is so beautiful! Hopefully Anony will come by and tell what sort of bird he is but he is just magic whichever way you look at it
OOOHHHHH and AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! That looks like it could be a hawk of some kind which you already know! There are MANY types including Kites and Harriers but if you want to identify, I have only yellow eyes and a striped tail which narrows it down to about a dozen possibilities Search local information about birds and I’m sure you’ll learn what it is!
Thank you Anonybird for stopping by and taking a look, I thought it it was a hawk of some sort. Maybe I will bring my pic up to the nearby bird preserve as see what they say.
This bird is a Peregrine Falcon. I’ve seen several here in the Boston Area. There is a photo of one on Wikipedia if you scroll down to the bottom of the article.
I was leaning towards a peregrine also, glad somebody else came to that conclusion. I only like birds from a distant, as they freak me out when they swoop near my head, but they are fascinating creatures to watch in nature.
Big oohs and aahs from me Deb! Was this a fluke shot or do you have nests nearby. Does he/she always perch there? Great photo - has got me all excited

Most birds in the wild make a good photo subject, but the majesty of the eagles and hawks make them more so. Do like this one Deborah.
Thank you Robert, I was so excited to be able to zoom in close enough to get a clear shot of him. It made my day.

WHHOOHOO a Peregrine Falcon!
Thank you so much Adam for solving the mystery of the bird in my picture. How cool is that, a Peregrine Falcon!

Ha, I have never had a bird swoop that close to me, that would tend to freak one out a bit.
