Randy Pausch - The Last Lecture
Aug 24th, 2008 by indigo-daisy
Randy Pausch was a husband, a father of three small children, and professor at Carnegie Mellon University. On September 18, 2007, he gave his last lecture to a crowd of over 400 collegues and students titled "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams."
This was one of the most moving and inspiring lectures that I have ever heard and If you have an hour to spare, it is really worth watching.
The thing is, this really was his last lecture as Randy had pancreatic cancer and succumbed to it on July 25, 2008.
The lecture, come to find out, was really for his surviving children. I cried at the end…

oh baby, I have blogged about Randy several times, wasn’t he one of the most inspiring people ever? I have watched the last lecture twice now, crying by the time i was 5 min each time, what a powerful man… thanks for sharing your thoughts xo
I have heard of that but never watched it. I’ll have to, now.
I have not heard this yet, but my friend in NJ just gave me this “book on tape” to bring home for a listen. Not sure I can manage it and drive too, but we’ll see.
My oldest son got his masters degree in the same field that Randy taught and many of his colleagues had Randy as a professor at one time or another. My son was able to watch the lecture live online while it was being given. What words of wisdom Randy leaves us on how to make the most of our lives. He is funny, down to earth, and an inspiration to all.
I gotta see what the fuss is all about!
I watched about 4 minutes before I had to leave for class. I’ll get to it this weekend, but I saw a book in Kroger (grocery store) that was this speech made into a book.
